Since our
system is for secure driving which has its primary focus on safety it should
be accurate and the reliable. In order to maintain these goals we will test
our system in several ways.
In order to detect approaching cars, we analyze the frames captured by the camera.
So the vision of the camera should be clear and work in all weather conditions
like rainy, foggy sunny etc. So, one of our tests will be done according to
the weather conditions. We should prove that our system works in all whether
conditions such as sunny, rainy, stormy, snowy and foggy. Every external factor
effects vision, which would limit our systems feasibility and some problems,
may occur because of this. We should create alternative algorithms to detect
the weather conditions and generate solutions to different problems that are
caused by weather.
Another issue is the violations of the regulations and speed limits. As we mentioned before main purpose of our system is safe driving. This includes safe overtaking and safe cruise. There might be a situation like a high speeding car approaching from back. In such over speed situations, system may have a potential failure of capturing the images fast enough or analyzing them in a short time. It should be able to get as many frames as it is required to calculate numbers and process them in a short while to leave enough time to warn the driver and for him to react. So another test will be done according to the speed of the camera in FPS and processing power of the system.
An important issue is the daytime and nighttime difference. Capturing devices work by capturing the light rays passed from an objective that has fallen onto a photosensitive area. Obviously the difference of amount of light in the environment will affect our systems so we need to have a quality test about adequacy. The tests should be done at the different times of a day. Even if we use a night vision camera to capture images, we have to check especially the reading process at dark whether in order to make an efficient image capturing to work on it.
We will also check integration efficiency and availability of integration. Our system is designed for factory integration and commercial purchase, which means later integration. In order our system to work; it needs to be fed from the electricity system of the vehicle. In company integration company engineers will solve this issue. But in later integration, we should be sure that car systems are adequate to make our system work and also that our system is not affected from small changes of the current.
Last issue about quality is user information methods. System should be user friendly in order to avoid miscommunication between the user and the system. Signals and sounds should be easily separable from each other. Also system check tests should be done to make sure the system works correctly and warns customer if not.
