MindCar is a true next generation entertainment product that is in the crossing of two future technologies, brainwaves sensing and mobile systems. MindCar has two modes sapareted with a simple switch under the car.
*With switch is in the first position, MindCar becomes a perfect radio controlled car with Android mobile phone as a controll unit.
*With switch is in the second position, MindCar can be controlled directly with brainwaves. The car can be controlled only with thinking, no need any other interfaces.

MindCar uses bluetooth for wireless communication and it can be paired to any Android mobile phone with dedicated application (which can be downloaded from Android Market soon) in few seconds.

MindCar can also be used with mind controll interface. For using this future, user must have a computer with Bluetooth capabilities and the dedicated EEG sensor with software. After pairing MindCar with the computer in few seconds, it's ready to go with any user whose brain functions properly. MindCar acts according to the desire of the user. S/he decides on the directions by means of his/her brainpower and MindCar takes care of the rest, converts commands coming from the brain to full of fun. During the process, any irrelevant thoughts of the user, or not thinking anything stops MindCar that is one of the main reasons why it is so easy to use.

Underlying Technologies:

MindCar uses an EEG sensor for capturing brainwaves. The EEG Sensor is wireless and easy to wear. It has 14 sensors for accurate sensing. The actual photo of the EEG Sensor can be seen at the right:

For processing the brainwaves, MindCar uses an ordinary laptop and a dedicated software. The software analyses the brainwaves and sorts out the commands.

In Android mobile phone controlled MindCar mode, the dedicated software uses an Android device’s touch screen and accelerometers for taking commands from the user. User force the car go the right or left just by tilting the device right or left just like a real steering wheel.

MindCar uses Bluetooth 2.1 technology to communicate with its controller wirelessly. The communication range is approximately 6 – 7 meters.

MindCar needs 4 AA batteries to run.

Software & Interface

  • Android Mobile Phone Control Mode

The software interface of Android Controlled MindCar is very simple and elegant. It has “Forward”, “Backward” and “Stop” touch buttons on the screen and “Right” or “Left” commands can be created by tilting the device right or left. Screenshot of the software interface is give below:

  • EEG Sensor (Mind Control) Mode

    The software of Mindcar consist of two parts:

    * Training Mode

    Training mode is the device calibration part of the software. This is just needed one time for every user. In training mode, software asks the user to think specific commands and emotions and records them. These specific commands and emotions are forward, backward, right, left and neutral. Screenshot of the training mode is given below:

    * Running Mode

      Running mode is the main part of MindCar where wheelchair will moves if user thinks one of the commands forward, backward, right or left. Screenshot of the training mode (while user thinks the forward direction command) is given below:

Software System Requirements

  • For Use with Android Mobile Phone:

    1. 600 MHz mobile processor
    2. Android OS 2.2 (or higher)
    3. 5MB available disk space.
    4. Bluetooth 2.1 capability (or higher)

    For Use with EEG Sensor:

    1. 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor (or equivalent).
    2. Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
    3. 1GB RAM.
    4. 100MB available disk space.
    5. One unused USB 2.0 ports.
    6. Bluetooth 2.1 capability (or higher)
